Black girl jams to help you deep soak your day away
Take it from a girl who takes a lot of baths, you absolutely need music to go along with your Black Girl bathtime soak. I worked at Urban Outfitters once upon a time — on 14th street — and I legit made a Snapchat series about my frustrations called Bitchin in the Bathtub. Honestly, it was a creative outlet for me to complain about customers and MTA dummies to my followers while consuming my…vices.
It’s been a while since our last playlist of the month. And although my bitchin (in the bath, that is) ended three years ago, nothing about listening to music during Black Girl bathtime has changed. I prefer to listen to (you guessed it) Black women when I take my baths — whether it be a soak in the early morn or in the dead of night. You probably already have an idea of the vibes, too. A little bit of SZA, throw in some ’90s Janet for a dash of nostalgia, and you’ve got yourself a #mood my gyal.
However, being the pisces queen that I am, I get into my emotions. And during Black Girl bathtime I have those few moments of weakness. I put on that R&B fuckboy shit that reminds me of…that nigga. And if I have to have that moment, so do you, sis.
Anyways, chile, I’ve racked up an hour and change’s worth of tunes of Black girl magic (*sigh* and a sprinkle of fuckboy R&B) to get your soak on in these existential times.
