Haven’t you Heard? A Brandon Blackwood Bag is ALL the Rage
Quarantine or not the B.A.P.’s are turning looks and one item that seems to be flying off the shelves is handbags. We all saw what happened with Telfar, but as much as we love the Telfar squad, they aren’t the only accessible Black-owned luxury handbag brand on the block. Brandon Blackwood is helping the girls turn political looks with his viral handbag that says end systemic racism. But who is Brandon Blackwood? And How did he hop on the scene?
Brandon Blackwood is a New York and Tokyo bread designer of Jamaican and Chinese descent. After completing his education at Bard College, he launched a small four-piece collection of leather handbags for the spring of 2015. Almost instantaneously his talent created a frenzy of media attention from platforms like ELLE, Vogue, WWD, and many more.
The initial four-piece collection has now evolved into a full contemporary leather goods brand with a diverse range of products. From handbags, trunks, backpacks, and small accessories, Brandon Blackwood is a designer on the rise. His philosophy from the jump has always been that one’s accessory should be a mixture of classic and current sensibility. This, in my opinion, is a great philosophy to live by for a designer. It gives the customer a sense of comfort that they’re receiving a high-quality timeless piece. And I am here for it! ?
