Cuomo Concedes. Now Let’s Finish the Job in November: Mamdani For NYC Mayor

June 25, 20252 min read

Well, well, well, look who folded like a fitted sheet. Andrew Cuomo has officially conceded in the NYC mayoral primary and while this is a moment worth acknowledging, let’s not act like the work is done.

Because spoiler alert: it’s not. Not even close.

We might’ve dodged one bullet, but the current mayor is still out here playing dress-up in designer suits while the cost of rent, food, and MTA rides is giving Hunger Games: Borough Edition. Eric Adams has been cosplaying as a nightclub influencer while the rest of us are out here trying to afford oxtails and toilet paper. It’s giving delusion. It’s giving “not reading the room.” It’s giving not my mayor energy.

Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani—our preferred candidate and real one for the working class—is still in the game. His policies actually reflect the reality of everyday New Yorkers, not just folks bottle-popping in VIP sections while housing insecurity hits record highs. He’s been loud about lowering the cost of living, prioritizing safe and supportive communities (not just more cops), and actually listening to people who live here.

So yes, Cuomo exiting stage left is a step in the right direction—but it’s just the pre-show. The real performance is on November 4th when we show up and show out at the general election. If you love this city like you say you do, if you’ve ever ranted about rent, or gentrification, or the fact that the bodega chopped cheese is now $9.50 with tax, then you already know what time it is.

This is bigger than just one seat—it’s about reclaiming NYC for the people who built it, beautify it, and belong in it.

Don’t get complacent. Get active. Get your aunties, your group chats, your overworked friends, your fake-deep situationship—whoever. Just make sure you and your people are ready to vote again in November.

The BAP will be watching. 👀💅🏾
